Tracy Schindel, Executive Director says; " Bring it on 2012"

As NORMAL, Inc leaves 2011 and looks forward to 2012, the organization can look back with great pride.  NORMAL, Inc served over 5000 clients in the calendar year 2012.  That is a 100 percent increase. “With new programs such as “The Big Give” and the “Power Pack” on board the centers services have increased significantly” says executive director Tracy Schindel.  As need in the Washington county community increase so do the programs at the NORMAL Community Center.  The power pack program has grown from packing 20 backpacks a week to over 100 a week.  The first “Big Give” was hosted serving over 300 people in August and the December Give served over 1000 people.
Programs at the NORMAL, Inc. Center include:  The Power Pack Program, Blanket of Truth, Young Eagle Martial Arts Gang Prevention program, Tiny Tigers, The Big Give, Annual Challenge Camp, Outward Bound Programs, Community Garden, Fishing Derby Days, FLAG Self Defense and many more activities. Tracy notes that one of the biggest challenges is keeping up with the increased need and clientele with such a small staff.  “Our core staff consists of only three people.  We work seven days a week to keep up with the program demands. Closing at the Holidays was a much needed break so we can recharge and dig back in starting in January.”
Looking forward to 2012 NORMAL will increase again its Power Pack Program, Young Eagle and Tiny Tiger Program.  The Care Package food program launched in December 2011 but will actually begin monthly care packages of food in January.  SHAPE will formally start in January which encompasses all of the nutrition and food education programs in 2012.  NORMAL also hopes to add Dance to be Fit to is program schedule in 2012.
